Detailed Description of Error P0536

The OBDII error code P0536 indicates that there is an issue with the A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor Circuit. This sensor is responsible for monitoring the temperature of the evaporator coil in the air conditioning system. The sensor sends a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM), which uses this information to regulate the air conditioning system''s performance.

The P0536 error code is set when the ECM or PCM detects a problem with the A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor Circuit, such as a voltage reading that is outside the expected range or a malfunction in the sensor''s performance. This can cause the air conditioning system to malfunction or not function at all.

Possible Causes of Error P0536

  • Faulty A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor
  • Corrosion or damage to the sensor wiring or connector
  • Short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Open circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Faulty ECM or PCM
  • Incorrect sensor installation or configuration
  • Air conditioning system refrigerant leaks or low refrigerant levels
  • Blockages or restrictions in the air conditioning system

Possible Fixes for Error P0536

  1. Inspect the A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor and its wiring for signs of damage or corrosion. Repair or replace as necessary.
  2. Check the sensor circuit for short circuits or open circuits. Repair or replace the wiring as necessary.
  3. Replace the faulty A/C Evaporator Temperature Sensor with a new one.
  4. Check the air conditioning system for refrigerant leaks or low refrigerant levels. Recharge the system as necessary.
  5. Inspect the air conditioning system for blockages or restrictions. Clean or replace components as necessary.
  6. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to reprogram or replace the ECM or PCM.
